Which product is better for lightening dark spots?

I have been searching for ways to make my skin radiate and glow, whether it’s by layering luminous makeup products or trying out skin-brightening skincare. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it increasingly challenging to maintain an even skin tone—although I don’t frequently break out, I do have some slight discoloration that makes my skin appear less radiant and clear than I’d like. That’s why I couldn’t wait to get my hands on La Roche-Posay 10% Niacinamide Serum, which promises to help even out skin tone and combat skin discoloration in as little as a week. Below is my review of this serum, which was gifted to me by the brand.

La Roche-Posay 10% Niacinamide Serum Formula

La Roche-Posay 10% Niacinamide Serum is an oil-free and non-comedogenic serum designed to improve the appearance of discoloration, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. As the name suggests, it contains 10% niacinamide (an antioxidant), as well as hyaluronic acid and phenylethyl resorcinol (a synthetic antioxidant). It is recommended for all skin types.

My Review of La Roche-Posay 10% Niacinamide Serum

The first thing I noticed about this serum is that it’s slightly thicker in consistency than other serums I’ve tried. It has a creamy white color and a faint scent, so if you’re sensitive to scents, keep that in mind. Despite its thickness, it feels lightweight and absorbs quickly into my skin. It leaves a slightly sticky base that makes it easy to layer moisturizer and sunscreen on top. Fortunately, I didn’t experience any pilling when using this serum under makeup.

After using this serum for a week, I noticed that my skin appeared more even and radiant, even without my usual concealer and foundation. As you can see in the picture above, I still have some redness, but I started by applying three drops both morning and night and found that I prefer using it only at night. My skin leans on the dry and sensitive side, but I think those with oily and combination skin types could use this serum twice daily. Dermatologists certified by the board can help you determine the product usage frequency that suits your skin type. If your goal is to achieve an even skin tone and reduce dark spots, this serum is definitely worth considering.
