Colored Contact Lenses Beginner’s Guide

Recognize Yourself, Live in the Present, and Enjoy Your Life. Besides illness, the suffering you feel is brought about by your own values, not something that truly exists. You don’t have to stand at the age of 50, regretting your life at 30, and you don’t have to stand at the age of 30, regretting your love at 17. What you need to do now is cherish the present and make the most of every day.

As for colored contact lenses, many people often equate them with regular contact lenses. However, there are fundamental differences between colored contact lenses and regular contact lenses:

  1. Color and Pattern: Colored contact lenses are designed with various colors to decorate the iris, such as brown, black, blue, pink, etc. They have unique pattern designs. On the other hand, regular contact lenses are transparent and have no patterns.
  2. Purpose and Function: Colored contact lenses are primarily used for cosmetic purposes, changing the color of the iris and making the pupil appear larger. Regular contact lenses are mainly for vision correction, addressing issues like nearsightedness and astigmatism, reducing the need for eyeglasses.
  3. Usage Environment: Regular contact lenses are suitable for individuals with vision problems, typically starting at a minimum prescription of 100 degrees. Colored contact lenses come in both prescription and non-prescription variants, and they can be worn regardless of whether you have vision issues.

Now, let’s delve into the world of colored contact lenses and learn how to use them correctly!

Wearing Colored Contact Lenses:

  1. To wear colored contact lenses, you first need to distinguish between the correct and reverse sides. The bowl-shaped edge is the correct side, while the edge that extends outward like a saucer is the reverse side. Shake off any excess lens care solution. Gently pull down your lower eyelid and place the bottom edge of the lens along the edge of your lower eyelid. Use your other hand to hold up your upper eyelid until your iris is fully exposed. After the lens adheres completely, rotate your eyeball to ensure proper fit.

Cleaning Colored Contact Lenses:

  1. Start by washing your hands thoroughly. Place the colored contact lens in your palm and add a small amount of lens care solution. Use your fingertip to clean the lens, gently rubbing it in a radial motion on both sides. Then, place the cleaned lens in lens care solution to keep it moist until the next use.

Caring for Colored Contact Lenses:

  1. For the first wear, colored contact lenses should be soaked in lens care solution for at least 12 hours. The daily wearing time should not exceed 8 hours. Replace the lens care solution every time you wear the lenses, using just enough solution to prevent the lenses from being compressed. Replace lens care tools every three months and lens care solution every six months.

Using Colored Contact Lenses:

  1. The usage period for disposable colored contact lenses is typically 4 months (two-week disposables) or 6-8 months (monthly disposables). You should not wear them beyond their specified period. Even if you don’t use them for an extended period, change the lens care solution once a week. Colored contact lenses that have been exposed to the air for a long time will dry out and should not be used. Do not wear them while sleeping, bathing, or swimming.

We cannot criticize our past selves from a higher vantage point. It’s unfair. If given a second chance, with the same mindset and experience as we had at the time, we would likely make the same choices. Learn to reconcile with yourself and accept who you were during each phase of your life.
